Inspired by the feeling of instantly recognising someone as if you’ve known them forever, the single cements Luchino as one of contemporary pop’s most exciting emerging artists, and we chat with him below.
OSR: Your new single ‘My Whole Life’ feels incredibly personal. What inspired the story behind the song?
Luchino: ‘My Whole Life’ was inspired by a time in my life when I met someone very special to me. From the very first moment, we had an instant connection, and everything just felt magical. It was one of those rare moments where the person, the atmosphere, and even the landscape all felt perfect together. The song is about meeting someone who feels instantly familiar, like they’ve already been part of your story for years, and how that kind of connection can change your perspective and make everything around you feel lighter and more meaningful.
OSR: The track explores the feeling of instantly connecting with someone. Was there a specific moment in your life that shaped that concept?
Luchino: Definitely, it was inspired by a real moment and person in my life. I met someone where the connection and energy felt effortless from the very beginning. We could talk for hours, and everything felt natural. That feeling of comfort, excitement, and emotional familiarity became the foundation of the song.
OSR: How would you describe your sound to someone hearing your music for the first time?
Luchino: I’d describe my sound as emotional modern pop with strong melodies and honest, memorable storytelling. I love combining intimate lyrics with uplifting melodies that feel personal, relatable, magical and real.
OSR: Artists like Shawn Mendes, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles have influenced your music. What elements of their artistry resonate with you most?
Luchino: They all have a way of combining strong melodies with real emotion and honest storytelling, which is something I really connect with in my own music as well. I also admire how they each have their own identity and atmosphere while still creating songs that feel relatable, personal and universal.
OSR: What was the songwriting process for ‘My Whole Life’ like from start to finish?
Luchino: The songwriting process for ‘My Whole Life’ felt very natural and emotional from the beginning. The idea and emotion behind the song came from a real moment in my life, so a lot of the lyrics were written from genuine feelings I was experiencing at that time. I started with the hook, especially the line Where have you been my whole life, because that feeling immediately stood out to me. From there, the song slowly evolved into telling the full story and emotion of that moment. I wanted the lyrics and melodies to feel honest, relatable, and uplifting at the same time. Once the writing was finished, we focused on creating a production that matched the atmosphere and emotion of the song without taking away from the vulnerability of the lyrics.
OSR: Your music blends vulnerability with polished pop production. How important is emotional honesty in your songwriting?
Luchino: I think it’s really important that all the songs I make are based on real emotions and feelings I experienced at certain moments in my life. That’s why I write my own lyrics, because I think it’s very important as a singer to truly relate to the music you create and perform. People connect most when something feels genuine, and I think listeners can immediately feel when an artist truly means what they’re saying.
OSR: Was there a particular lyric or melody in the song that came naturally to you right away?
Luchino: Yes, the emotional core and hook of the song came very naturally. Where have you been my whole life was actually one of the first parts I wrote. For me, it captured the feeling of finally meeting someone truly special after searching for a deep connection for a long time. It’s not easy to find someone you fully connect with and deeply understand. The emotion and memorability of that moment felt very immediate to me, and it naturally became the core of the record.
OSR: How involved are you in the visual and creative direction surrounding your releases?
Luchino: I’m very involved creatively and like to take the lead in that process, because I care a lot about the full experience surrounding my releases, from the visuals and artwork to the storytelling and overall aesthetics. I always want the visual world to reflect who I am and match the emotion and atmosphere of my music.
OSR: What do you hope listeners feel after hearing ‘My Whole Life’ for the first time?
Luchino: This song is based on my personal story. I hope every listener can connect it to their own story or a moment in their past or present where they felt most alive. I hope people feel hopeful and emotionally connected. Whether it reminds them of someone special or simply gives them a feeling of warmth and escape for a few minutes, that’s what matters most to me.
OSR: As an emerging artist, what has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far in your journey?
Luchino: Probably the importance of patience and consistency. Building something meaningful takes time, and staying authentic to yourself creatively is incredibly important. I’ve learned that long-term growth always matters more than chasing short-term moments.
