Aurealis – Cursed (2026)
Delving into the grittier, less inviting aspects of life, Aurealis creates “music for the dancefloor and the heart.” Built on layers of emotion and synth-driven beats, his music brims with colour, yet simultaneously veils melodies in a subdued haze of tender darkness. This is our introduction to Aurealis, but he has been turning heads for almost a year, beginning with his 2025 single, ‘Porcelain’ – or at least that’s on Spotify, so don’t quote me. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Cursed’.
Self-produced, composed and penned by Aurealis, ‘Cursed’ retains the electropop flair of ‘Fire In Rain’ – a rush that has you twirling about, staring upward, and feeling a gentle rain on your face; however, there is a darker atmosphere in the track. Unlike ‘Fire In Rain’. ‘Cursed’ is far brasher and more abrupt, as the vocals seemingly stomp across the pulsating synths. It’s as if Aurealis is punching you with each word. The thing is, as much as there is a bold beat, the vocals are honey-soaked and drip with raw emotion.
You might not want to dance to ‘Cursed’, but the shimmering, kaleidoscopic melody – complete with a sonic, electronic heartbeat in the background – is a tune that hits you in the feels. Pushing the layers of passionate grit, darkness, and inner turmoil within a blaze of skin-tingling music, ‘Cursed’ is poignant and melancholy, but with a layer of sincere sentimentality. Aurealis explains:
“When I wrote it, I wasn’t just writing about a darker side of myself whispering lies, fear and failure. I was writing about hopelessness – the place where the light starts to go dim, where every possibility feels cursed before it even has the chance to live… At its heart, ‘Cursed’ is about that battle, and what it means to survive it. Hopelessness has a voice, and the darkness only wins when hope goes silent.”
In addition to the single, Aurealis released an official music video for ‘Cursed’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
