Bloom BD – Underground (2026)
Should you take a shine to Oasis and Radiohead, the chances are you’ll be quite interested in the Irish alt-rock band, Bloom BD. Formed in 2025, so they’re relatively new to the scene, Bloom BD offers the rush of an unknown gem but with the understanding of pure musicality. Drawing together the skills of Sean Walsh (guitar and lead vocals), Ryan Hays (bass) and Oscar Geraghty (drums), the North Dublin trio mix melancholic moods with zealous earnestness in each of their songs. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Underground’.
Following their singles ‘Sailor Man’ and ‘Amber Eyes’, Bloom BD drag you to a live music venue, complete with an unadulterated sense of mischief, in ‘Underground’. Hays’ bold bass pulsates underneath, offering a steady, solid, deliberate sense of anchoring security, while Walsh’s guitar soars across the top with brash intent and hard-hitting rock flair. Geraghty’s drums crash in the background, but also add a confident beat of their own in ‘Underground’.
The track is a mellifluous rush of rhythmic rock music, but each instrumentation brings individuality, standing tall and flowing together. I find this particularly interesting as the duality of prominence and unity seems to burst with the intensity of a live band. I have no idea what Bloom BD is like live, but given the energy veiled by a raw, rugged, gritty intensity, there’s no doubt that this live show would stick in your mind.

So, what is my overall opinion of Bloom BD and ‘Underground’? If you’re looking for something light-hearted and bouncy with sunshine tinges, then this isn’t for you. It’s dark, intimate, powerful, and layered with vulnerability. Then again, you might find something new and exciting to enjoy beyond bright bounciness with Bloom BD. Recommended, but I’ve yet to form a true opinion given this is one of their first releases.
