CeCe – Problems (2023)

One of the most memorable Clint Eastwood quotes has to be his line in Magnum Force when Dirty Harry (Eastwood) tells us “a man’s got to know his limitations”. In the case of US-based artist CeCe, there don’t seem to be any limitations. Fashion designer, director, singer, and songwriter – CeCe seems to have permeated nearly every area of the entertainment industry. More than just an artist, CeCe is a visionary with her sights set on world domination (or at least that’s what I think). Featured in notable publications such as The Punk Head, Clout, Send Me Your Ears, Pop Passion and Lefuturewave, she is turning heads across the globe. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Problems’.

Following her single ‘FUEO’, CeCe adopts a commercial pop style with slivers of pop-rock in her track ‘Problems’. Finding a line between Christina Perri and Taylor Swift, but with a unique Alanis Morrissette obscurity to her vocals, ‘Problems’ has you pumping your fist in the air to an anthemic boldness. Moving from a heavily pop sound in ‘FUEO’, CeCe showcases her versatility by incorporating a rock edge into the melody. I am particularly fond of the electric guitar that seems to enhance the fury belying the tune and lyricism.

While the melody can hold its own as something both entertaining and terrifyingly fantastic, ‘Problems’ shows depth in the lyrical content. A real “fuck you” song, the track was penned as “revenge for a friend who was brutally cheated on by their fiancé…” Touching on issues of pain, frustration, anger, rage and blind fury, CeCe gives listeners a catharsis to deal with any toxic relationships. Moreover, ‘Problems’ not only screams anger but has a sense of empowerment woven into the message as CeCe helps people move on.

Bold, powerful and sincere, CeCe touches our hearts and minds with her anthemic track ‘Problems’.
