Electric High – Colorful White Lies

If Aerosmith were to have a child with Wolfmother and it was raised by Black Sabbath, the chances it would be Electric High. Based in Norway, the hard rock quintet has a sound that is as unique as each band member. All veteran musicians from bands like Faith Circus and Sahg, the group fuses previous experiences, inspiration and knowledge leading to an eclectic style. Featured on Rock Era Magazine, York Calling, Less Than 1000 Followers, Turn Up The Volume and numerous playlists, Electric High is building an international following. The latest addition to their critically acclaimed discography is ‘Colorful White Lies’.

Their first single release in 2022, ‘Colorful White Lies’ is an engaging, energetic and profound song on all levels. Following their hard rock single ‘Rough Diamond’, Electric High adopts a high-paced, attention-grabbing melding of instrumentation and gruff vocals. Produced in collaboration with Iver Sandøy at Solslottet Studio in Bergen, Norway, ‘Colorful White Lies’ brings together Tor Bjarne Bjellan’s drums, Einride Torvik’s bass, Marius Mørch’s guitars and leading vocals by PV Staff and Olav Iversen.

As if you were being tossed into a sonic swirl of sound, the pounding drums crash with powerful vocals in a kaleidoscopic soundscape. While there is a sleaziness to the heavy vibe, Mørch’s scorching guitar crescendos into catchy choruses and unforgettable poetic lyricism. Described as a “Skynyrd meets Aerosmith sound”, ‘Colorful White Lies’ has you bouncing about in a mosh pit.

So, the melody is important and certainly impresses, however, it is the message that enhances the track’s significance. Touching on the topic of lies, ‘Colorful White Lies’ connects with people in a conceptual and universal way. Every person lies whether it’s a small lie protecting a person or a bigger one to hide an experience – the thing is, it’s relatable and reaches you on an intimate level. Electric High share that “sometimes white lies stop being completely white and start to change color”; this is what ‘Colorful White Lies’ is all about.
