Firefly Search Party – Some Days (2026)
Self-described as “a couple of quirky humans making honest music… “, Firefly Search Party is exactly what it says on the tin: a two-person search party for the delicate but feisty fireflies. With a folk-pop vibe and eager, upbeat grooves, the US-based pair bring together the talents of veteran singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Dian Harun and Nathan Frye. Each a celebrated artist in their own right, Harun has performed and curated numerous shows around Singapore over the past decade; Frye has been playing guitar and singing for 15+ years, touring extensively with various bands across the globe. Today, we find them joined as Firefly Search Party and take a gander at their most recent release, ‘Some Days’.
Focused on connecting with audiences in an intimate, honest, but not overly intense way, Firefly Search Party unpack human experiences with their melodies. ‘Some Days’ delves into those times when things aren’t necessarily great but you need to get through. The pair explain: “’Some Days’… offers listeners various positive responses in its ability to simultaneously transport us to a happy place and allow us to acknowledge that some days we are not ok, and those days might be just for us to do what we need to do.”
Taken from their upcoming debut album, Prisms of Dispositions, ‘Some Days’ is the band’s first release in two years – following 2024’s ‘Stay’ – and marks a new chapter in their musical journey. Joined by fellow musicians Winston Koh (keyboard), Harist Sunil (bass guitar), and Tommy Dean (drums), the song is a solid folk-pop track that would intrigue fans of Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzie McAlpine, while retaining a strong sound that is fully Firefly Search Party.
Produced by JC Chiam, the melody weaves together Frye’s guitar, Sunil’s bass, Koh’s keyboard and Dean’s drums in rhythmic harmony. Simple and fun, easy to listen to, light-hearted, tender and brimming with zealous sincerity, this is a song to reach and lift your spirit with gentle charm. The melody is intriguing, but it is Harun’s vocals that veil the arrangement but also contribute to the lifting of the haze; like those moments when you’re chasing fireflies in a sonic field, then holding them delicately in the palm of your hand.
