Emerging from the UK music scene, Horizons Demise isn’t just another metal band. They aren’t something you can mosh to, and then it’s all over. They aren’t a band that hits your playlist, but it’s not all that. They are a band making a statement, branding the scene, and dragging you into their hard-hitting, head-turning soundscape. This is my introduction to Horizons Demise, so I couldn’t go in with expectations. Join me as I turn the speaker up on ‘The World Deserves To Die’.
Following the well-received 2025 single ‘In Her Eyes’, Horizons Demise continue to showcase their unapologetic and fearless exploration of personal trials, existential challenges, and living in an uncertain, frustrating, and sometimes tragic reality. Bassist Void explain that ‘The World Deserves To Die’ “presents a bleak moment of judgement with the Horizons Demise universe, placing humanity in the aftermath of its own choices… The song points directly at the greed of those in power, the false hopes they sell, and the chaos they left behind for others to inherit…”
Produced by Claire Sutton and mixed by Red Mertah, ‘The World Deserves To Die’ is a four-minute crash of smashing metal music. From the outset, Horizons Demise drags you into a sonic hurricane brimming with ferocity, frenzy and a palpable rage. Echo’s drums thrash and pound, while Void’s bass boldly swims in the melody. Static’s guitar soars, slices and scorches in ‘The World Deserves To Die’, tossing you from one turbulent wall to the other; perfect for those times you need to jump about and shout out in frustration.
While ‘The World Deserves To Die’ is a slice of madness, it is Signal’s vocals that daubs the song with silvery light; hard-hitting and explosive with the metal screams, yet soothing and warm in the soft singing. A rise and fall, ebb and flow, to and fro between heavy and caressingly melodic metal.
For me, Horizons Demise isn’t walking across the UK metal scene (and beyond); they are stomping across, leaving a distinctive flair in their wake. I am eager to hear more.
