Hailing from Delray Beach, Florida, the Woolley sisters – Kenzington and twins Paris and Charlotte – combine their talents, skills and influences in their moving tunes. With strong connections to the music industry – their father working alongside iconic artists like Led Zeppelin and their uncle a jazz musician – there is a legacy to the Woolley name; however, the teenage trio choose to step away from the expectations, remove the legacy light, and create original contemporary music true to their hearts and our ears. Charlotte’s bold drums beat steadily in the background – an anchor in the rhythmic melody. Paris’ guitar weaves about, and Kenzington’s piano lingers in the haze of ‘Baby Blue Broncos’. Interestingly, while the track suits modern-day audiences, its vintage, live-show feel brings a sense of nostalgic grit.
Melodically, the track is endearing, with Paris’ warm vocals dancing atop the arrangement. Lyrically, the timeless nature of ‘Baby Blue Bronco’ runs much deeper. A song of reflection, memory, and cherished experiences, ‘Baby Blue Bronco’ is about a car, but it is so much more than a car. Considering The Ruffles are all under the age of 20, I find the maturity of ‘Baby Blue Bronco’ interesting. As much as there is sophistication in the track’s production, the Woolley sisters ooze a youthful innocence in their overall sound. I am eager to hear more.
