KDX – MC MILITANT (2024)
For the past five years (give or take), singer-songwriter and rapper KDX has entertained audiences with his rambunctious music. From his debut album Empath Tree in 2019 to 2020’s ‘Toothsweet’, 2021’s After Hours EP and 2023 album AMOR FATI, KDX has constantly evolved with his moving music. Described as high quality, vibrant, packing a punch and filled with originality, KDX has turned heads across the globe. This is my introduction to the Irish musician; however, listening to the tune is like dancing to an old favourite played on repeat. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘MC MILITANT’.
Following the well-received singles ‘DWN BAD/ ATK MODE’ and ‘NEO-STARZ’, KDX fuses the nostalgic rap of Tupac, Snoop Dogg and Professor Green with the dark haunting of contemporary electronic pop. Interestingly, while the bold beats drive ‘MC MILITANT’, there is a degree of simplicity lurking in the cinematic soundscape. Beautifully textured, a hint of mystical depth fluttering in a dark melodic pool. Wrapped in mysticism and ethereal despair, KDX stirs the gritty, gruff side of one’s soul with fearful trepidation.
What I find intriguing about ‘MC MILITANT’ is the weaving of poetic lyricism through a harsh bind of thorns. Soft and soothing, KDX’s vocals carry a degree of warmth in the execution; however, just as there is a harmonic flow, it retains a brash abruptness. Confident and laidback but with a hint of chaotic charm lingering in the back, ‘MC MILITANT’ ensnares all of your senses.

So, what is my overall impression and opinion of KDX? Initially a hip-hop artist with strong rap skills, KDX is another rap artist crossing my virtual desk. Yet, while there is a similarity to others, KDX has a uniqueness to be experienced and enjoyed with each song. Poetic and profound with the sharp angst of a brash flutter, I recommend ‘MC MILITANT’ and KDX to everyone.
