Kelsie Kimberlin – Clumsy Girl (2026)
With a slew of singles acknowledging, exploring, and discussing the emotional side of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Kelsie Kimberlin takes an emotional turn on issues of immigration, national pride, identity, change and human connection. In her previous singles ‘Lady Liberty’ and ‘Champ’, Kimberlin adopted a heavier, harder rock flavour, capturing the significance of the themes discussed. However, with her new single ‘Clumsy Girl’, she leans back to her pop roots and the happier, lighter, more “fun” side of existence.
Following ‘Lady Liberty’, ‘Clumsy Girl’ is a love song of sorts. Instead of delving into weightier themes like the harrowing feelings of loss and uncertainty in the supposedly free USA, ‘Clumsy Girl’ lifts its head toward finding affection, hope and love in difficult situations. By no means is this concept less profound than previous issues; in fact, love is as complex, intricate and oozes vulnerability. In this single, however, Kimberlin offers a brighter, happier, more optimistic and entertaining brush of life. She explains:
“Even though Ukraine is in a state of war, life goes on, people still laugh and find love. With ‘Clumsy Girl’ I want to show that, despite the challenges, people can have fun and have hope as long as they have someone.”
Created by various acclaimed professionals spanning two continents, ‘Clumsy Girl’ is the result of devotion, camaraderie, and willingness to prove that you don’t have to be in the same room or of the same breed as others to create something special. Recorded and produced by US-based Sean P. Jones, Colombia-based Pedro Vengoecha and Czechia-based Vasyl Tkach, with mixing by Liam Nolen and mastering by Stuart Hawkes, ‘Clumsy Girl’ breathes life into a pop tune.
Dragging me back to the 80s pop scene, but with a modern edge, ‘Clumsy Girl’ is an anthemic sweep of shimmering synths, bold beats, and clipping keys. Oddly enough, while the pulsating beat represents a human heartbeat, and the catch of synths adds a jagged angle to the melody, ‘Clumsy Girl’ is actually fun, soothing and uplifting with a danceable, rhythmic groove.
