KØASH – Dominoes (2022)

Bringing the diverse pop sound of the 1980s to the 21st-century, UK-based KØASH is old-school but also contemporary in his music. Embracing singing and songwriting as a child, this singer-songwriter has been honing his sound for quite some time. Now, we have the honour of listening to the evolution. Featured on notable press like We Are YMX and Pop Muzik, KØASH is turning heads across the globe. Come with us as we take a look at his debut release ‘Dominoes’.

Finding the line between Charlie Puth, Shawn Mendes and Duran Duran, ‘Dominoes’ has a contemporary edginess to its synth-pop design. Yet, while there is a strong commercial pop tone to ‘Dominoes’, an afrobeat element adds a toe-tapping beat to the song. While I am not the biggest fan of synth-pop, this upbeat track can get anyone dancing from the very first chord. No, I’m deadly serious, you cannot listen to ‘Dominoes’ without bopping your head and moving to the music.

Produced by Grammy-nominated Daniel John Evans, the melodic arrangement is smooth, mellow and textured. While the melody itself is hypnotic, the layering of KØASH’s unconventional vocals highlights innovativeness and eclecticism. Almost feminine in his vocal execution, KØASH’s voice has a falsetto tone that is incredibly memorable. Moreover, while the track is upbeat and jovial, there is a laidback sentimentality that makes it one to dance to while chilling out with a cold beverage.

In addition to his single, KØASH has released an official lyric video. This can be viewed below or on his YouTube channel.
