Matt Saxton – Feel It Again (2025)
Celebrating life in its entirety, singer-songwriter Matt Saxton brings theme songs to reality with a personal narrative binding its sense of comfort. Over the past couple of years, our team at The Other Side Reviews has sat back, turned up the music, and enjoyed the UK-based artist’s eclectic blend of indie-folk infused by hits of indie-rock and indie-pop. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Feel It Again’.
Following the critically acclaimed 2024 tracks ‘The Edge Of Things’ and ‘Take It Or Leave It’, Matt Saxton saunters into 2025 with ‘Feel It Again’. Recorded and produced with long-time collaborator Mat Leppanen, ‘Feel It Again’ has Saxton return to a folk-inspired tone after the jazzy snap of ‘The Edge Of Things’. Instead of a toe-tapping chorus of piano, drums, and a soulful saxophone, the new track is a mellifluous, simplistic ballad.
Driven by an acoustic piano, there is a soothing charm to ‘Feel It Again’; however, it is the light stir of percussion that enhances mature sophistication without being too over-the-top. For me, it is not the enchanting melody that captures my heart – it is the barebones twirling of rough vocals amidst the instrumentation that inserts a tender, skin-tingling sentimentality. Interestingly, as much as the vocals are rich and warm, there is a sense of bruised fragility and vulnerability lurking in Saxton’s voice.
Melodically, ‘Feel It Again’ is gentle, soothing and feels like dipping your toes into a cool brook on a hot day; lyrically, it is as engaging. Matt Saxton explains:
“Sometimes we need to step away from our daily lives, get back to hot it all started and “feel it again”. ‘Feel It Again’ is about how a weekend away by the sea reset and rescued a long-term relationship. Though the song is, of course, highly personal, it will have universal appeal…”
In addition to the single, Matt Saxton released an official lyric video for ‘Feel It Again’. You can view it below and/or on his YouTube channel.
