POLI NIKA – Summer’s Falling (2025)

Known for her weave of vulnerability, fragility, and empowering hopefulness, singer-songwriter POLI NIKA delicately unpicks humanity and individuality in her moving melodies. She describes her music as coming from “…life’s quiet moments, painful challenges, unexpected joy, and the gratitude of human connection…  to pause in the rush of everyday life and reconnect with your true self…”. We first came across the Portugal-based musician last year, although she had been sharing her songs since 2020. The introduction was 2024’s ‘Down To Earth’, but today we step ahead to look at the latest addition to her discography, ‘Summer’s Falling’.

Following the singles ‘Rains In Lisbon’ and ‘Don’t Mean To Hurt You’, ‘Summer’s Falling’ is a graceful blending of pop-inspired tones tinged with the tenderness of folk and indie-pop. Produced with Theodore Lion, the track has a sophisticated, kaleidoscopic nature, but it simultaneously appears to dance across your skin with a barebones simplicity despite the rush of synths, piano, and drums. Slow and steady, POLI NIKA is an anchor in the hushed wave of sound, with the acoustic piano holding you tight. Then again, in another way, this ballad entwines a silky voice with whimsical instrumentation, setting you adrift on that sonic wave without too much care.

“’Summer’s Falling’ is… [a] gentle indie-pop love letter, drunk on summer romance and dizzy with happiness. Everything feels weightless, fluttering like dandelion seeds caught in warm air. A song of pure, trembling bliss – where the whole world goes soft around the edges and you’re floating on cloud nine…” – POLI NIKA on ‘Summer’s Falling’

Co-written with Canadian songwriter Liz Rodrigues and released at the end of summer, there is a sadness in ‘Summer’s Falling’ like you’re about to lose something spectacular; however, as POLI NIKA mentions, the track is the dizziness and honey-soaked bliss of all-consuming happiness.

In addition to the single, POLI NIKA released a live session video for ‘Summer’s Falling’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel.
