The Other Side Reviews

R.F. Coleman – Crazy For You (2022)

With the aim of having fun, talking and telling everyone who listens that he loves and appreciates them, singer-songwriter R.F. Coleman is heart-warming, joyful and pretty much awesome – like your best friend. As well as making music, Coleman presents his artistry in photography, filming, painting and writing for the New York Post, Guardian and VICE; so, let’s hope this review meets his writing standards because if I base his journalism on his music those standards are high. Come with us as we delve into his latest single ‘Crazy For You’.

Following the well-received debut single ‘I Couldn’t Trust’, Australian R.F. Coleman “tests the waters with something a little different…” Unlike ‘I Couldn’t Trust’, ‘Crazy For You’ has a harder and heavier sound to the melody. The beats are prominent dragging you along with a darker, grittier tune; however, while there appears to be a more sinister sound in ‘Crazy For You’ the concept is jovial, uplifting and engaging.

Penned as a “…joyous tune to make you giggle, get in the mood, dance a little and scream out loud”, the sophomore track touches on the fact that everyone has some type of obsession to plaster a smile on their face. For instance, Coleman collects cards, bikes, cameras, artwork and strange domain names – it’s something crazy that makes him happy. For me, it’s the television show M*A*S*H and Buzzfeed quizzes that makes me grin, and ‘Crazy For You’ is a groovy tribute to my love for this stuff.

“Produced by Joshua Moriarty (of Miami Horror and Telenova), ‘Crazy For You’ is a feel-good sing-along to remind you of whatever it is you’re crazy for. Girls, boys, cats, daschunds, trees, paper cranes – if it makes you crazy that makes R.F. happy!” – R.F. Coleman on ‘Crazy For You’

Moving, groovy, rhythmic and anthemic, R.F. Coleman captivates listeners with his happy ditty ‘Crazy For You’.
