Rumour Den – All In This Together (2026)
I’ll be honest, as soon as I read the title of Rumour Den’s new single – ‘All In This Together’ – my mind leapt back to the highly infectious, pop-oozing High School Musical ‘We’re All In This Together’. Upbeat and insatiably sweet, ‘We’re All In This Together’ is a song about friendship, unity and teamwork. Rumour Den’s ‘All In This Together’ isn’t exactly that sort of song. Instead of bubble-gum sweetness, you have realistic doom hitting you between the eyes. Join us as we jump headfirst into this new track.
The third single from singer-songwriter duo AJ Gilmore and Steve Simms, ‘All In This Together’ opts for hard-rock power over Disney’s pop sugar. Produced by Frankie McClay, the track combines Simms’ steady, bold bass with Eamon Lenehan’s drums – both forming an anchor or backbone to the crashing single. Weaving across the single is Simms’ guitar – dynamic and forceful, with heavy riffs and a weighty, rock-infused flair.
For me, the melody is unified and harmonically rich with emotional grit; however, while the track is sophisticated and well put together by McClay, it evokes a zealous rawness that breathes like a live session. With Gilmore’s rugged and rich vocals, you feel as if you were sitting in the recording studio as Rumour Den sing (and play) their hearts out, sending shivers along your skin.
Melodically, ‘All In This Together’ sits in your heart with its rock-flecked depth, but it is the theme that makes the song truly weighty. The band explains:
“Set in a near-future authoritarian society, the song follows an ordinary citizen as freedom is gradually exchanged for security, conformity and social approval. Through the eyes of one man, ‘All In This Together’ explores surveillance, censorship, social credit, propaganda and the quiet compromises that allow authoritarianism to grow. Ultimately, the system he uses to get ahead is the cause of his downfall.”
Alongside the single, Rumour Den released an official music video for ‘All In This Together’. Created by Gilmore as a graphic-novel-style slideshow, the video tells – or rather displays – the protagonist’s story alongside the lyrics.
