senses – already part of the problem (2025)

Bringing together four childhood friends with a mutual obsession for music, Ian Finnegan (vocals and drums), Kevin Kavanagh (guitar and keys), Brian Callan (vocals and guitar), and Ronan O’Connor (bass) offer brutal honesty, insight, reflection and raw emotion to audiences with their melodies. Sauntering across the realms of shoegaze, indie-rock, alternative rock, and pop-rock, the foursome is not exactly what you’d call definable; however, what you can expect is weighty melodies with hard-hitting themes and sounds. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘already part of the problem’.

Hot on the heels of their well-received single ‘accelerate our love’, ‘already part of the problem’ pulsates with slips of krautrock, indie-rock and even some alt-rock. Recorded and produced by Liam Radburn and Gavin Monaghan, the single brims with sophisticated elegance, highlighting the maturity and skill of Monaghan and Radburn. Yet, while the tune is undoubtedly on point, a sense of something gritty, rough, raw and intimate is evident.

A mash of crashing drums, soaring guitars, slips of keys, and bold bass, ‘already part of the problem’ bursts from your speakers with rock-filled heaviness. Its sense of urgency, volatility, and brashness creates a darker soundscape existing with palpable tension. Melodically, the track is abrasive and like being seriously spoken to about something profound – the perfect alignment with its confronting theme. Not necessarily sincere or sentimental, but rather provocative and questioning, senses lift the veil from our eyes to take an honest look at society and ourselves. The group explains:

“A hard-hitting single that calls silence what it is – compliance. A blistering statement on complicity and injustice… With its relentless drive and politically charged heart, ‘already part of the problem’ lands as… a shot of adrenaline that channels passion, purpose and sonic ambition.”
