Sharl – Outside (2022)

Blending elements of both modern and classic pop, singer-songwriter Sharl brings old-school charms with a contemporary edginess to her audiences. Previously signed to a UK indie record label, Sharl has experience in the music industry; however, it is in 2022 that she makes a re-debut evolving her sound as an independent artist. Featured on various notable blogs, including The Other Side Reviews (that’s us!), Sharl has hit the blogosphere running with no signs of slowing down. The latest addition to her well-received discography is the single ‘Outside’.

Described by Pop Fad Magazine as “melodious, expressive and warm”, Sharl has a way of slithering into your brain and making you go all fuzzy with her music – in a good way. Following the single ‘Hanging On’, she adopts a disco-based hyper-pop single sure to get you up and dancing from the first chord. Opening with a somewhat acoustic-inspired RnB sound, Sharl establishes her soulful vocals as one of the prominent features in ‘Outside’. Playing with various sub-genres of pop, Sharl showcases her versatility in a synth-laden soundscape.

Well-textured and layered ‘Outside’ wraps you in a bright bubblegum pink sonic package where you feel completely comfortable. Yet, while there is a strong sense of comfort in the track, the disco-pop single has a strong sensuality and enigmatic allure. Sharl explains that ‘Outside’ is a “sexy, soulful, disco-pop track telling the story of a night out in the city, falling for the irresistible charm of a mysterious man…the song immerses you in the scene as if you were right there…”

Now, I’m unsure how many of our avid readers have experienced this mysterious sense of immediate infatuation, but ‘Outside’ provides the sensual soundscape to reflect the excitement of it. If ‘Outside’ is anything to go by, I am waiting on tenterhooks for the upcoming album City Lights.
