The Freight – Fish & A Bike (2020)

Are you looking for a band that will help you cut loose for a little while? Look no further than The Freight who will have your toe-tapping to their fun and groovy single ‘Fish & A Bike’. While you get down to their groove, the band looks at the topic of people wanting to change others in a relationship. All of this comes to a fun conclusion through the song.

The single keeps the music train going after the band’s debut. The lively sounds come from the tight arrangements created by Adam Tiro (vocals, guitar), Stephen Anderson (bass), Greg Tragellis (keys, vocals), Marc Loverin (drums) and John Marinilli (percussion). Together they are fusing blues with rock and roll for a jam worthy soundscape.

‘Fish & A Bike’ comes at you with the groove train from the first moment. The warbling tones in the opening give way to some serious funky blues tones that get you moving. There is a wonderful upbeat vibe to the melody that puts a smile on your face while the tight arrangement hits the spot. You can easily forget about reality for a while as you get down to the grooves of the music. Each instrument has its own solo in the single which is a touch you don’t hear too often and really showcases the musicality of the band.

The vocals are a wonderful layer of soulful blues that offer a little retro edge to the music. There is a certain charm to the performance that adds an extra hit to the energy of the single. The vocals do have a light touch of distortion on them, but this is so delicate that it only enhances them. As you get into the vocals, the lyrics offer a playful reprimand of someone wanting to change their partner in a relationship. The lyrics are a lot of fun to listen to, particularly the ending salvo.

The Freight is going full steam ahead with the toe-tapping sounds of ‘Fish & A Bike’. The melodic arrangement is tight with the band hitting the spot with every note. The vocals offer a playful reprimand while adding charm to the lyrics.
