The Myth Pool – In It Together (2026)
It all began with a single question: “What did the younger versions of ourselves want to make before anyone told us what music was supposed to be?” A nostalgic whisper of reflection before all the algorithms, promotion, marketing, genres, and worries that no one would listen to or like the songs. The Myth Pool pondered on the adult side of making music – creation, production, and release – but it always came back to the question of “what did we want to make?” Then, after the contemplation, it became “what do we want to play?”
When describing The Myth Pool, musicians Amie Penwell and Vicente Rodriguez noted that the answer to that question “became a collection of songs built from late nights, limited resources, dance rhythmics, noir moods, and a refusal to take the rules too seriously. We weren’t trying to make something important. We were trying to make something we’d have loved when we were twelve.” With ‘In It Together’, their debut track, the US-based duo find a wave of Peter Gabriel, Spoon, and Wendy & Lisa bound in experimental, eclectic melody.
Simple and easy, listening to ‘In It Together’ is like sitting back and enjoying the sounds of the 80s with a twirl of languid tranquillity. Finding a bit of Peter Gabriel with the shimmering keyboards and underlying synths, The Myth Pool seem to soothe your heart and give you the deep breath of relief after long, trying days. A hint of a sax sweeps across, offering some jazz-tinged vibes in the enigmatic attitude.
The Myth Pool aren’t trying to make something important, but rather something they would have loved as children. For me, ‘In It Together’ is a creative expression of yesteryear – the clarity of modern-day skill and old-school whimsy. In truth, I enjoyed ‘In It Together’; however, my one concern is that this debut is their peak. I am eager to hear more.
In addition to the single, The Myth Pool released an official music video for ‘In It Together’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
