Watch Me Die Inside – Melancholy Nektar (2026)

Described as “an artistic universe that documents the modern human in a state of internal collapse…”, Watch Me Die Inside is Aleph’s dissection of a psychological wound with intimate, engaging melodies. Instead of treating his audience as passive listeners, the Cyprus-based musician evokes raw emotion, encourages tumultuous immersion, and has witnesses who are “…observers of a condition that is not softened, only made visible.” Come along as we listen to one of his most recent singles, ‘Melancholy Nektar’.

Self-recorded and produced, ‘Melancholy Nektar’ is, in a word, powerful. From the opening note, the soothing piano-led melody sets you adrift on a sparkling sonic lake with an idea of smooth sailing. Quietly, ripples rock the sonic boat with a flush of drums and guitar; then things get heavy. Crashing drums meet a bold bass, with the guitar soaring, swerving and scorching in waves of music. From soft and gentle to tumultuous and rocky, ‘Melancholy Nektar’ is a hell of a ride – and it doesn’t stop there.

Constantly twisting from one insane whirlpool, with the chance of crashing on the jagged rocks, ‘Melancholy Nektar’ shifts between light and dark. For me, the rich vocals add a particularly enchanting aspect in honey-soaked grit, vulnerable gruffness, and a way of holding your hand in the musical storm, and guiding you with a comforting smile. Perfectly titled, ‘Melancholy Nektar’ is sweet but with a bitter end.

“‘Melancholy Nektar’ emerges as a study of seductive decay – the quiet intoxication of sorrow that begins not as suffering, but as refuge. The fragment explores the moment where pain ceases to be resisted and instead becomes ritualised, consumed, even desired. Drawing from the tension between dissolution and control, it reflects a state in which the individual no longer seeks escape, but willingly sinks deeper into a self-created atmosphere of beautiful ruin… where despair transforms into something almost sacred, and the line between poison and comfort dissolves completely.” – Watch Me Die Inside on ‘Melancholy Nektar’
