Wrené – Trib Al (2022)

With her EP Dark Matter, Wrené continues to push the boundaries of what makes a song, packing surrealism with unorthodox emotions she drew us into an endless dark abyss of sound. While she is known for her experimental musical tones, she is fusing this to a more traditional pop structure in her single ‘Trib Al’. A tale of lustful connection that turns divine, she brings a shattering of superficial illusions to the track.

Moving from grimy beats to slithering reptilian vocals, she inundates the senses with a lustful hunger and an obsession to sate her cravings. A truly immersive listening experience, the single is part ethereal and part complete darkness that undulate together, forming an addictive cycle. Taking musical expression to another level, Wrené will have you firmly under her spell long before the single is done.

‘Trib Al’ brings the grimy beats from the first second as they shake and shiver across your skin. There is a light, almost droning tone in the low levels that vibrates through your bones and draws you into the dark underworld of the track. Through the music, she brings a heated craving to the single that carries the feeling of never being sated. While there is a craving woven into the music, there is also a darkness that fuels the lustful connections of the vocals. You can hear the touches of experimental tones throughout the melody, but this has been masterfully tethered to a more structured pop movement. Through this fusion, Wrené pulls you under her spell and leaves you wanting more.

As the melody brings the undulation of dark and lustful cravings, Wrené’s vocals have a lighter tone. Her voice is almost ethereal at times, wonderfully contrasting the heated tones of the melody. While the melody catches you in a web of lustful connections, the vocals provide the reasoning for this craving which breaks the illusions that we all see when confronted with these feelings. Later in the track, the ethereal touches of her voice reaches out, creating a gossamer feeling to the track. It is wonderfully decadent, while adding a new softer texture to the track. As you listen to the lyrics, you feel a sense of awakening that is really immersive and addictive.

Wrené brings an undulation of lustful cravings, ethereal awakenings and a heated journey to the divine through the fusion tones of ‘Trib Al’. From the first note, there is a grimy touch to the melody that is contrasted by the delicacy of her vocals. Together, they bring the journey of the track to life while combining experimental tones with a solid pop structure.
