A Chat with Revived Echoes (29.04.26)

London-based music artist Revived Echoes has released his latest single, ‘Let’s Do It Now’. Merging genres of pop, electro-dance, and dance, the track fuses infectious dance rhythms with emotionally resonant storytelling. We caught up with Revived Echoes after the release to discuss all things music below.

OSR: ‘Let’s Do It Now’ explores a complicated emotional connection. What inspired the story behind the track?

Revived Echoes: I tend to avoid explaining my lyrics too much, as I believe most people can identify with them through their own experiences. Outlining my own source would personalise it too much and weaken that connection. ‘Let’s Do It Now’ isn’t inspired by a single event or person. It’s a mix of experiences where deep connections are formed, but circumstances make everything difficult. Right and wrong become blurred, and every option feels like a trade-off, because the connection is real and hard to walk away from.

OSR: Your music often captures unspoken feelings. How do you translate those subtle emotions into lyrics?

Revived Echoes: I don’t think there’s a clear mechanism. Most people go through similar emotions, even if the situations are different. I just try to capture those feelings in a way that people can relate to, and in most cases, still be able to move to as well.

OSR: Do you usually start with a concept, a melody, or a feeling when creating a song?

Revived Echoes: I usually start with the concept. I go with whatever is catching my attention at the time, and everything builds from there.

OSR: How personal is this track compared to your previous releases?

Revived Echoes: All my songs have a strong personal influence, and this one is no different. If anything, ‘What it was’ is probably the most personal so far.

OSR: There’s a strong push-and-pull dynamic in the song. Was that intentional from the start?

Revived Echoes: Absolutely. The whole idea is built around that tension, the confusion it creates, and how difficult it is to break out of that cycle.

OSR: What draws you to blending emotional storytelling with dance music?

Revived Echoes: I love dance music, and I think dancing to emotional lyrics makes the experience more intense. I’m drawn to both meaningful lyrics and that energy, so bringing the two together just feels natural.

OSR: How do you strike the balance between vulnerability and keeping a track commercially appealing?

Revived Echoes: I don’t really see them as incompatible. Some of the most powerful songs are the ones that reflect something real. Commercial appeal comes from what people connect with, and combining that with honest emotion can work very well.

OSR: What role does real-life experience play in your songwriting process?

Revived Echoes: It’s crucial. With music like this, where the focus is on emotion and relatability, I don’t think it works without a strong personal connection to what you’re writing.

OSR: Are there particular moments or memories that shaped your sound as an artist?

Revived Echoes: I think it was realising that I’m not drawn to one genre alone. That made me appreciate music more broadly, especially lyrics that wouldn’t normally be tied to certain styles, and finding ways to make that work together.

OSR: What do you hope listeners feel or take away after hearing ‘Let’s Do It Now’?

Revived Echoes: I see my songs as an attempt to capture something that’s there but not always easy to see. I hope people connect with it on a deeper level, especially if they recognise something of their own in it, and that it gives them some clarity if they’re currently going through it.
