thestategentleman – New Hope (2026)

The brainchild of independent singer-songwriter Goran Simonovski, thestategentleman has a continued commitment and zealous dedication to creating music that is compelling, distinctive and inspiring. Known for his collaborative projects, Simonski began turning heads in 1999 with the album Belisarius 1999, co-produced with the late Pat Collier. In 2004, he worked with the Leppanen Brothers on Belisarius 2024. From there on, Simonski has sauntered further through the realms of rock with international acclaim, chart-topping singles, and extensive international airplay. Today, we sit back and discover his musical world with the single, ‘New Hope’.

Following his 2025 single, ‘My Love Will Not Be Sold’, thestategentleman enters 2026 with ‘New Hope’. Influenced by the likes of Gary Moore, U2, Eric Clapton and the Beatles, ‘New Hope’ is a drag back to the blues-rock world of the 90s with strong guitar-driven riffs, anchoring drums, and bold bass. Produced by Adam Hope of Bamboo Shed Studios, the single sits somewhere between grit and soothing. Interestingly, while the full melody brings a soaring sound to our ears, it is the final minute or so that really stands out. The short horn section seems to flip the track on its head, shifting directly from grungy blues to toe-tapping pop.

Melodically, ‘New Hope’ is an intriguing tune that would line up easily with any Gary Moore single; however, the vocals are entirely unique. With an obscure lilt, Simonski’s dulcet voice offers a lazy drawl while simultaneously adding vulnerability with a bold blues-tinged timbre.

A weighty song in its own right, the melody of ‘New Hope’ has substance through its carefully crafted composition. The lyricism and theme merely enhance the full-bodied weightiness of the track by exploring timeless issues like injustice. UK-based Simonski explains: “‘New Hope’ is a song about the fight for justice. We all experience injustice at work and in life in general. This song is about the fight for equality and fairness… Clouds will clear the skies, victory is mine.”
