ainheeky – goalden skeye (2022)

Avoiding the stereotypical alternative rock/indie-rock sounds, ainheeky is an artist that breaks the mould with his unique style. Yes, there is a foundation of indie rock in his music; however, the originality of his work comes with tinges of power pop, psychedelic rock and a nod to 90s rock. A new artist in the music scene, Brazilian ainheeky is a new fish in an ocean of sharks. The thing is, while he has a newbie status, this singer-songwriter is already turning heads. Featured on blogs like Thoughts Words Actions and Punk Rocker, ainheeky is reaching listeners across the globe. Come with us as we look at his debut single ‘goalden skeye’.

Adopting a DIY approach to music production, ‘goalden skeye’ was recorded by multi-instrumentalist ainheeky with mastering and mixing done by Owen Claxton. Coming in at just under two-and-a-half minutes, ‘goalden skeye’ nods to the sounds of 90s/early 2000s pop-rock. Born in 1980, ainheeky would have grown up listening to bands like Good Charlotte, Green Day, Weezer, Wheatus and Blink 182, and this influence is evident in his debut track.

A bright joviality can be heard in ‘goalden skeye’ as the rock arrangement compares with iconic 90s rock bands. Bold, rich and well-textured, there is a flowing ambience to the melody; however, a slight grittiness remains in the soothing melody. It is this obscurity that has ainheeky making a splash with the debut track. In fact, while there is a smoothness to the single, the slight grittiness is almost palpable as the song progresses.

Not much to go on, ainheeky impresses us with his music instead of long biographies and descriptions of the track. Then again, ‘goalden skeye’ is all we need as an intriguing introduction to the naturally talented artist.
