Alwyn Morrison – Everybody Bleeds (2026)
With intimate, personal narratives and confident, engaging performances, singer-songwriter Alwyn Morrison combines empowering and powerful with vulnerability and fragility in his melodies. Based in New York City, this alternative rock musician – although he delves into varying degrees of indie – has crossed our ears and eyes regularly since his debut single, ‘The City’ in 2025. Our thoughts? Well, so far, he hasn’t disappointed and stands out as one of the more interesting artists we’ve come across. Today, we hit the play button on his latest single, ‘Everybody Bleeds’.
Following the well-received ‘Puzzle Piece’, Morrison continues on his trajectory toward a heavier, somewhat darker alt-rock sound in ‘Everybody Bleeds’. For me, a whisper of Oasis lingers in ‘Everybody Bleeds’. In fact, upon first listen, I truthfully expected Liam Gallagher to stand up and finish the verse with ”and after all, you’re my wonderwall”. By no means are Morrison’s vocals nearing the obscurity of Gallagher’s, but for some strange reason, I could hear those off-kilter flutters filling in the blanks. Rich, sweet, and comforting, Morrison’s voice showcases a little more clarity and exquisitely executes raw emotion. Within that confident sheen, one can hear the hints of fragility and melancholy.
The vocals are engaging, but the instrumentation holds its own in ‘Everybody Bleeds’. Combining Michael Carey’s guitar, bass and drums, a heavy rock-inspired sound oozes from our speakers. A whirlpool of intensity, while Morrison navigates its rushing yet harmonic flow. Add Carey’s skills on a keyboard, and there’s a sense of warmth plugging any holes and shimmering along with a subdued glitter.
Produced by Morrison and Carey, with Alex Aldi (mixing) and Nathan Dantzler (mastering), ‘Everybody Bleeds’ finds the point between raw emotion and sophisticated elegance. Mature and refined, each moment is a Morrison moment, tapping into the grit and glory of human experiences. Speaking about the new track, this talented musician shares:
“My new single is a rock track about the hidden struggles people carry. I found it as a 14-year-old demo from my producer, and it hit during a time I was obsessing over my own struggles. Recording it gave me a lot of perspective…”
