Ary Maudit – Nothing Is A Feeling (2026)
An established figure in the UK’s underground music scene, Ary Maudit is a non-binary musician, producer and sound engineer, having worked with the likes of Yungblud and Kae Tempest. However, it is not their production skills that draw our attention – it is their original music. Pouring raw emotion and delving into personal narratives, Maudit creates songs that unpack reality and feel human. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Nothing Is A Feeling’.
Produced by Maudit, with mixing by Marcela Faragone, ‘Nothing Is A Feeling’ drags listeners back to the world of 2000s pop-punk. I was immediately dragged back to old-school Paramore and The Almost – the air guitar out while I strut about my living room. Maudit’s crunching bass matches Jamie Oliver’s crashing drums, giving the track a heaviness that carries through. Maudit’s soaring guitar adds a bit of an alternative rock flair, but the melodic punch keeps it somewhat frenzied in the quintessential pop-punk style.
The melody is by far an inspiring one with its bold rollercoaster effect; the emotions ebbing and flowing, rising and dipping, coming and going in a hard-hitting arrangement. The Paramore hit becomes even more evident with Anita Kyoda’s rich vocals. One item I truly enjoy in ‘Nothing Is A Feeling’ is the shift from smooth singing to an almost spoken-word centre, followed by a rhythmic run of riffs.
As much as ‘Nothing Is A Feeling’ encourages that rock star strut I mentioned with shouts into an imaginary microphone, the theme and emotions add weightiness. Maudit explains:
“’Nothing Is A Feeling’ is about reaching a point where you can no longer pretend everything is fine. It’s about questioning relationships, identity, and the pressure to keep going while feeling disconnected. The song lives between anger and vulnerability; it’s a release of everything that has been held in for too long. The verses create a sense of movement and repetition, reflecting the feeling of running in juxtaposition of darkness and light.”
So, what’s my overall opinion of Ary Maudit and their music? As a fan of acts like Paramore and Fall Out Boy, I might be a little biased. What I know is that Maudit put a smile on my face after a rather long week. I cannot wait for more!
