Smutclub Ldn – Elephant (2026)
Dancing through the UK music scene with an energy that will leave you exhausted, a punch that will sting like last night’s tequila shot, and an upbeat vibe that has you buzzing, nu-metal group Smutclub Ldn inspire “moments to sing, moments to rap, moments to dance, and moments to mosh.” Now, I could go on about the lads of Smutclub Ldn telling you how their mutual passion for music led them down a road of musical mayhem; however, the amusing descriptions on their official website are far more representative of their light-hearted, “have fun until you drop” attitude. This is our introduction to the emerging foursome, so join us as we jump headfirst into their single ‘Elephant’.
On the heels of their debut EP, Minor Inconveniences, Smutclub Ldn hit you square between the eyes with ‘Elephant’. A collision of Tyro’s drums, Ben’s bass and Mikey’s guitar has the band immediately grabbing your hand and spinning you about in a metal-infused spiral. It’s fast, mad and frenzied, yet there is a laughing nature that inspires joy, happiness, and an intoxicated high-decibel burst of fun.
Recorded by the band and produced by guitarist Mikey (producer tag: gvzer), ‘Elephant’ is not necessarily an elephant stomping into the room, but has the sheer force of that beast – melodically, of course. The instrumentation is infectious and dances across your skin, but the vocals add a not-so-crazy sentiment. Hidden in and slicing across the song, Shydn’s rich, smooth, colourful voice acts like that guy at a party holding your hand and smiling, but you know there’s mischief afoot from the glistening eyes and cheeky wink.
As I said, this is my introduction to Smutclub Ldn, and it’s a hell of an introduction. I am eager to hear more from the group, but until then I’ll keep the grin going with ‘Elephant’.
