Baïki – KosmoX (2026)

Each bringing years of experience to the melodic mix that is Baïki, Phil (vocals and guitar), MarcDo (guitar), Brocky (bass), and Florent (drums) bind elements of rock, punk and even a rub of folk to their Belgium-based symphony. Now, this is my introduction to Baïki (pronounced Buy-Key), but there is over a decade worth of moving music to the band’s name. Of course, this is only according to streaming platforms marking the first release as 2014’s album Globalienatior. Although littered with several years’ hiatus, the lads continue to pursue audiences with an innovative, enigmatic sound. Join us as we jump headfirst into their latest single, ‘KosmoX’.

Composed and penned by vocalist Phil with production by Philmarie Muguerza, ‘KosmoX’ is a great blast of music hitting you between the eyes and striking you in the face from the outset. Brash crashing drums pound alongside a powerful bass, while MarcDo’s guitar swerves, soars and scorches in the soundscape. Interestingly, while the melody is perfectly suited to sweaty mosh pits and screaming, fist-pumping crowds, it is, in a strange way, ideal for those long drives when you just need to shout frustration, tension and anxiety away. A sigh of relief within the mash of hard-hitting music, but also the sweep of angst and frustration in a sonic rollercoaster.

For me, ‘KosmoX’ brims with a blunt, brash, abrupt frenzy, but it also has an underlying soothing quality that can make you grin while you jump about your bedroom and play air guitar. Phil’s vocals are gritty and rugged; it is this gruffness that enhances the power of the track.

Melodically, it is a crazy mess of urgency; lyrically, it aligns with its exploration of humanity in its crazed, conflicting, crass state. With ‘KoxmoX’, Baïki begs the question: “Are humans capable of living in peace without identifying an enemy to hate? Conflict, domination and expansion. Perhaps, in order to stop tearing each other apart, we will one day have to turn on the aliens… the colonisation of an imaginary planet…”

In addition to the single, Baïki released an official music video for ‘KosmoX’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
