Bay Simpson – Too Good To Be True (2026)
Imagine the scene: a musician takes the stage on NBC’s The Voice. He belts out a rock ‘n’ roll number and gets a chair turn from Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, who goes on to say of the singer, “This dude is awesome. He’s going to be different than anybody on the show.” Well, you’ve just imagined – although it really happened – something worthwhile.
Hailing from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, US-based Bay Simpson is considered one of the most exciting rising talents in the US music scene. While he gained recognition for his outstanding performance on The Voice, Simpson was already turning heads with years of touring for his country-rock band, Outlaw Apostles. At 20 years old, Simpson got a major break when Kid Rock recorded and released his song, ‘Never Enough’. Now stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, his powerful, passionate and enchanting voice wins hearts.
Following his cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic, ‘Fortunate Son’, Bay Simpson releases his new single, ‘Too Good To Be True’. Co.written with renowned professionals Brian Maher and James LeBlanc, this pop-rock track is not only foot-stomping and fun, but has a rather profound inspiration. Bay Simpson explains:
“To me, this song is ultimately about not knowing what you had until it’s gone. It’s an anthem for late ‘90s babies like me who were in high school in the 2010s and grew up in a rapidly evolving world. A world with an aged physical appearance, but consumed by new technology. I wrote it because I felt like I had something to say about my youth that I had never told anyone.”
Lyrically, Simpson sings a tale of his first kiss, finding the highs through teenage eyes, and the feel-good vibes of living; hindsight oozes from the refrain, “Too good to be true”. Melodically, it’s as emotional, and Simpson becomes a friend who understands all about looking back. Simplistic in one way, the bold drums and soaring guitars swirl about you with a warm, almost pop-rock tone; however, as barebones as it is, the kaleidoscopic dance is a rollercoaster of thoughts, feelings and chords adding to its vulnerability, intimacy and sincerity.
