Blair Djuna – Don’t Tell Me (2023)

Inspired by life in its entirety, Australian artist Blair Djuna creates songs from heartbreak and romance to deep self-reflection and every vulnerable moment in between. His aim to be “authentic and raw” is encapsulated in his melodies and speaks to people on another level. The moniker of singer-songwriter Derrick Attwood, Djuna dips into diverse musical genres to create something that is not quite hip-hop, not quite RnB, not quite alternative pop or rock, but something completely unique.

Following his well-received single ‘Beautiful’, Djuna draws together elements of electropop and indie-pop into his new track ‘Don’t Tell Me’. Lying somewhere between Charlie Puth and Troye Sivan with a tinge of Shawn Mendes in the mix, ‘Don’t Tell Me’ is a toe-tapping pop tune set to have an entire club dancing from the first chord. Foot-stomping beats merge with sensational synths creating a heart-stopping, harmonic melody. Yet, while the melody can hold its own as an anthemic pop tune, it is Djuna’s vocals that add an extra something to ‘Don’t Tell Me’.

Commanding, rich, bold and moving, Blair Djuna’s dulcet vocals traipse the pop arrangement to grab your attention with a charismatic charm. Djuna notes that he chooses “…to pour my heart and soul into my music by crafting meaningful songs…”, and it is this need to connect that makes ‘Don’t Tell Me’ so moving. Similar to his previous material, ‘Don’t Tell Me’ touches on self-discovery and self-reflection; however, unlike ‘Beautiful’, this song takes a more jovial slant removing areas of self-doubt in relationships.

A masterful piece of musical awesomeness, Blair Djuna ensnares your senses with his astounding new single, ‘Don’t Tell Me’.
