Blake Wisner – Moodlighting (2022)

Are you in the mood for an electronic pop song that contrasts elements as it slides you into a laid-back vibe? If you are, Blake Wisner has exactly what you need with his latest single ‘Moodlighting’. While there is an overall laid-back vibe to the track, there is an underlying sadness woven into the love scenario of the lyrics.

Blending electronic pop, future house and EDM, Wisner works with producer HUBSTCY to create this single. After meeting through mutual friends, the duo started working together culminating in this single which was recorded at Wisner’s house and produced at HUBSTCY’s. Euphoric, chilled, catchy and with a sexy vibe, the light dusting of sadness enhances the vibe of the single.

‘Moodlighting’ calls softly to you from the ether with a gentle electronic tone. The music enters the soundscape like a light in the distance that steadily becomes bigger and glows with warm colours. This calling sound gradually leads you to a sprinkling of beats that tap from every direction. The deep beats that enter strangely retain the rather chilled vibes of the opening while running with the higher electronic tones. The different electronic tones come together for a really interesting melody that jumps from one melodic line to another. You never quite know where the next electronic step will be but the beats have you jumping down the soundscape with a steady tap.

As the electronic tones grow in the opening, Wisner’s vocals rise with the growing light. His performance has a pale sheen to it that softens the slightly erratic feeling of the melody. When his vocals warp with electronic tones in the chorus, they merge with the melody perfectly. His performance is a wonderful contrast of tones as you feel the smooth flow of pop turn into the electronic-tinged warbling pulses. Through all of this, his delivery retains a chilled vibe that has you easily relaxing into it. While chilled, the undertone of his performance has a hint of sadness that is enhanced by the electronic wash.

Blake Wisner has you sinking into a contrast of chilled vibes and dancing electronic tones through the building glow of ‘Moodlighting’. The melody gradually grows through the track to tap from all directions while pushing you through the soundscape. His vocals wonderfully transition from smooth pop to electronic warbles that carry an undertone of sadness.
