Eric Hirshberg – Less Important Things (2026)
Eager to explore and celebrate life with all its highs, lows, and “well, I’m not too sure how I feel about that” moments, Eric Hirshberg uses alternative rock to resonate with audiences across the globe. Unpicking timeless themes with honest music, he showcases that human connection sitting at the core of being regardless of time, distance or age. We first came across the US-based musician a couple of years ago with his album Second Hand Smoke. Today, we come across Hirshberg once again with the single, ‘Less Important Things’.
Following his well-received singles ‘More Is Not The Answer’ and ‘We’re All In This Alone’, ‘Less Important Things’ drags you back to old-school alternative rock – a stroll across the 1990s and 2000s. One of those songs you can listen to in the background while absent-mindedly singing along, ‘Less Important Things’ is easy, gentle and calm. Then again, while it’s the track you can enjoy just because you can, it also hits you in the feels. Whether it’s the harmonic instrumentation weaving together or Hirshberg’s gritty vocals clasping at your heart, this single connects instantly, and you’re not entirely sure why.
Perhaps the instant attraction doesn’t stand there saying, “this is why you like me, and this is why we get along”; but it’s there. In the weave of bold guitars, steady drums, and a charming piano, Hirshberg finds a comfortable spot in which he lays bare the profound theme of ‘Less Important Things’. The spot where he celebrates the bittersweet intricacies of the empty nest syndrome. Hirshberg explains:
“’Less Important Things’ is a song about the empty nest. It is a love song to the journey of parenthood and the bittersweetness of letting go. You spend years building your life around the noise, chaos, and rhythm of raising kids, and then one day the house gets quiet in a way you were never really prepared for.”
In addition to the single, Eric Hirshberg released an intimate, in-studio performance video for ‘Less Important Things’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
