Michellar – Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind (2026)
Singer-songwriter Michellar seems to have traipsed across the realms of folk and pop in previous releases – or that’s what we’ve heard and experienced; however, she proves she is no one-trick pony with her new single. Pivoting from a distinctive folksy charm, ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind’ embraces a more psychedelic tone. The thing is, while her style may deviate, her desire to delve into the human experience remains true. In ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind’, Michellar steps into those decadent areas of humanity – the ones that probably stay silent but need to be discovered. She explains:
“The track emerges from… a need to express obsessions that had previously remained internal – tragic, uncontrollable thoughts finally given voice through music… It’s a release that I felt aligns with my nature of work, visually and artistically. I really enjoy this kind of music, having grown up with those sounds around me as a teenager. The explorations satisfied my curiosities at the time. In this instance, my curiosities in creating a song like this has satisfied my need for sensual escapism.”
Produced by Michael Beckheart, ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind’ is, well, like opening Pandora’s Box. The approach is tentative, cautious and intriguing as Michellar’s guitar strums along, accompanying her light voice; then the mood changes. You indulge your desire and lift the lid of the box. A dynamic drum beats in the background, while an electric guitar joins percussion and that acoustic guitar in a taunting manner. Synths and a bass flutter beneath as the song progresses and Michellar dips into the curiosities of the box. A rock music vibe weaves into the psychedelic softness, and you’re led across a heavier sound, eagerly exploring this sonic realm. Finally, the box closes with a fading guitar and gentle vocals.
A turn for Michellar, ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind’ is a glimpse into her upcoming album. This single has me intrigued, and I can’t wait for more from her.
