Fierce Friend – Put You Right (2026)

Exploring the grittier areas of life that people don’t eagerly jump into because of the stifling, disconcerting, “I really don’t want to”, unwanted sensations, Fierce Friend refuses to turn his head. Hailing from the UK, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alan Grice, performing under the moniker Fierce Friend, weaves together emotional themes, timeless sounds, and intriguing words to entertain, engage and really get you thinking. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Put You Right’.

Following ‘Make Me Forget You’, ‘Put You Right’ is the second track off Fierce Friend’s upcoming album, Blood Red Hills & The Uncanny Valley (set for release in October 2026). Co-produced by Fierce Friend and Alex Barron, the new track drags you back a few decades with a vintage indie-rock meets Britpop flavour. Reminding me somewhat of Dodgy, ‘Put You Right’ is a guitar-driven few minutes of music. Yet, while there is a harmonic flow of colourful synths and soaring guitar, the track is a little brash and somewhat abrupt, with a spicy kick within its sincere vibe.

Confident and bold, but flecked with vulnerability, ‘Put You Right’ offers rapier wit in a charming, sophisticated, mature sound. The tune makes it intriguing, but it is the theme that adds oomph to the track. Not a political song per se, but one that delves into the intricacies of our uncertain society, ‘Put You Right’ is a song that, well, is looking to put things right. Fierce Friend explains:

“’Put You Right’ is a tense… track about arguments, certainty, and the things people say that can’t be taken back. It is not a political lecture, more a song about the atmosphere of modern life: correction turning into accusation, disagreement curdling into deluded certainty, and communication breaking down.”

Sincere and honest, sentimental and reflective, ‘Put You Right’ is a profound song; however, it retains a light-heartedness that makes you tap your toe before its heavy theme hits you between the eyes. Highly recommended!
