IamSnap – Last Round (2026)
With a discography hailing back to 2019’s single, ‘I’m A Star’ – or at least according to Spotify – IamSnap has seven years of well-received, critically acclaimed, and highly praised musicianship. This might be our introduction to Australian rapper and songwriter IamSnap (also known as Shannon Elliott), but we are very late to the party. Billboard and US iTunes-charting, as well as collaborations with acts like Curtis Young, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Swifty McVay of D12, IamSnap is a noteworthy artist with a growing international following. Join us as we hit the play button on his single, ‘Last Round’.
Produced by IamSnap and Gore Ocean, ‘Last Round’ follows the hip-hop-driven single ‘Lifer’. Joined once again by singer Lydia Caesar, the single retains the hip-hop vibe of ‘Lifer’, but waves of pop flow through ‘Last Round’. Bold beats pulsate in the background, punching with a heavy electronic tone; however, a sense of soothing exists in the melody. Synths ebb and flow, laying a harmonic foundation, but it is Caesar’s vocals that truly enhance the rhythmic charm in multi-coloured layers.
Melodically, listening to ‘Last Round’ dragged me back to the 1990s with flits of R&B ushered along with hip-hop fervour. IamSnap might not have a strong vocal presence, but his brief rapping injects a raw grit to ‘Last Round’. Gritty and rugged, but also smooth and peaceful, the single finds a sweet spot between biting challenges and elegant harmony. Interestingly, the theme is also a double-edged blade. On one side, an intense emotional battle, and on the other, defiant strength.
A musician who cuts directly to the crux of human experience, ‘Last Round’ is an emotional journey built around “the image of a devil that refuses to leave…. confronting that presence head-on… blunt, vivid and darkly funny, moving through procrastination, self-doubt and creative paralysis before arriving at something far more powerful: the decision to keep fighting.
