James M LaRocque – TDS (2026)

From Billie Eilish to Bach, the Beatles to Frank Zappa, singer-songwriter James M LaRocque stops at every sonic field to breathe in, feel, and enjoy the raw power of different styles – and then he puts it all in a fun sonic wrapper for you. Needless to say, LaRocque’s music is a brand of its own, brimming with country, rock, jazz, punk and experimental instrumental sessions, but it is through this eclecticism that he sparks with originality, authenticity, and innovation.

Following his well-received single ‘Maybe Once’, new single ‘TDS’ is entirely James M LaRocque swept up in just over three minutes of music. From composition and lyrics to recording and production – basically, everything you do when recording a single – the new single brings the heart of LaRocque, the passion of LaRocque and the engaging nature to audiences across the globe. Join us as we take a listen to this release.

Melodically, ‘TDS’ leans strongly toward old-school rock with bold drums, a soaring guitar, and solid bass skipping along in the tune. Yet, while there is a harmonic rhythm in the track, it is a little obscure. It’s not a bad obscure, but just the tilt that has the track jump out of mainstream rock into an experimental setting. The guitar crescendo fires the song with an old-fashioned heaviness, but it is the vocals that really captured my attention.

Executed in a rambunctious punky-type flourish, but with the synthetic aura of a voice drifting in from outer space, LaRocque’s vocals dance across ‘TDS’ – a trend that perfectly fits the weighty lyricism. He explains: “’TDS’ is a song about an egotistical, stupid, vain, vulgar and all around ugly person. You all probably know someone just like him. Don’t be like him.”
