Jamie Bosanko – A Little Grace (2023)
For close on 30 years, singer-songwriter Jamie Bosanko has been sharing his charming music with the world from his hometown of Barrow in Furness, England. Truth be told, I had not heard of Jamie Bosanko before and never experienced the elegance of his melodies. Fortunately, I came across Bosanko and now join the loyal fanbase he has garnered on an international level. From his confident performances with Ocean Colour Scene and The Wedding Present to live sessions for BBC Introducing, he is reputed to have an engaging stage presence. The thing is, it’s not only his shows that turn heads as he features in international publications like Rising Artists Blog, Mesmerized, TJPL News, Lost In The Manor and It’s All Indie.
Following his well-received track ‘Life Will Do’, Jamie Bosanko finds the line between classic rock and Americana in his song ‘A Little Grace’. Recorded at Digital Man Studios and mixed/engineered by producer Matt Kassell, the song has a contemporary folk-rock feel with nostalgic leanings to older 70s/80s rock sounds. A steady drumbeat matches powerful guitars in this toe-tapping single tossing you into a kaleidoscopic sonic swirl.
Twirling about in the moving whirlpool, you lose yourself in a hazy ambience but also find an anchor in Bosanko’s rich vocals. The tenderness and sincerity of ‘A Little Grace’ oozes from the laidback melody but also from Bosanko’s dulcet voice bringing you close in a warm embrace. Interestingly, while the song has a laidback tenderness and optimism, it focuses on the darker melancholic theme of despair. When speaking about ‘A Little Grace’, Bosanko explains: “I really just wanted to focus on a theme of desperation and searching or hoping for redemption. Not to be too literal about it but focus on the feeling of it.”
Sincere, heartfelt and filled with a soul-stirring vulnerability, ‘A Little Grace’ will stick in your head for hours. I highly recommend Jamie Bosanko to everyone.
