Jennifer Tefft & The Strange – Silver (2026)
Formed a couple of years ago, give or take, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange released their award-winning 2024 album Strange Beginnings. Now, it’s the case that complete newbies will win awards and make splashes with earlier works; this isn’t technically the case here. The band might be a minnow in a shark pool, but Jennifer Tefft (vocals) is a sleek great white swimming across the industry. Performing with the likes of Aerosmith, Quiet Riot, Missing Persons, Warrant and Sarah McLachlan at a plethora of notable music venues and festivals, and having her music on The Young & The Restless, Cruel Summer, and CSI, it’s quite a repertoire the US-based singer-songwriter has going. Skip ahead to 2026, and we are introduced to Tefft, John Parrillo (guitar), Stephen Beccia (bass) and Chris Jost (drums) as the current lineup of Jennifer Tefft & The Strange.
Known for confident, energetic and captivating performances, the group win a crowd with absolute ease, but you don’t have to be in the audience to appreciate their music. Following the single ‘A Little More (Strange Version)’, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange retain their alternative-rock style in new single ‘Silver’; however, as much as their alt-rock brand remains, a quiet lingering of something else waves across the track. It’s strange, but if you dig further into ‘Silver’ you’ll find hits of pop-rock and, oddly enough, Americana.
Produced by Bob St. John for PDQ, with mastering by Adam Matza for Magic Ears Mastering, ‘Silver’ is a blast of crashing drums, a dynamic bass and soaring guitar, while Tefft dances across the tune with her stadium-ready vocals. It’s not an up-and-down rollercoaster of a song, but there is a grab to the melody catching you, twirling you about, while still holding you close in a warm embrace. I find this particularly intriguing as it so perfectly aligns with the theme of ‘Silver’ – a song of bright optimism in a heavier soundscape. Tefft explains:
“I constantly look for silver linings – the world is dark and scary these days. I find silver linings in the simple things and moments of simple joy or beauty. This song started out being about the absurdity of the current world and then evolved into also being about the general absurdity of life in general and my life in specific…”
