Johnluke – Could Be Dancin’ (2026)
With his previous single, ‘Nervous’, singer-songwriter Johnluke unpacked feelings of rejection, dismissal, and disappointment after a blind date went bad. With ‘Nervous’, he captured the raw emotion and complexities of relationships in a folk-rock melody. Today, we turn to Johnluke again as he continues to dip into the intensity and intimacy of finding your person – well, at least the first moments of absolute bliss and opportunity for something bigger. Join us as we delve into his new release, ‘Could Be Dancin’.

Following well-received tracks ‘Nervous’ and ‘Denial’, ‘Could Be Dancin’ retains the wisp of Mumford & Son in the melody; however, the track has a distinctly Johnluke groove to it. A toe-tapping blend of folk-rock, the single is perfect for those country dances where you have a grand time and possibly find your love in the square-dance routines. Richey McCourt’s bass keeps a steady beat, while Jonluke’s guitar weaves across the tune. Anna Krantz adds a layer of piano, adding some warm charm and comfort.
Produced by Richey McCourt, mastered by Simon Francis and mixed by Dave Skelton, ‘Could Be Dancin’ has the polish of a radio-ready single, but an innocent naivety lingers. Johnluke’s rich vocals work their magic on our ears, yet within that, a ruggedness exists, offering some good ol’ country grit, but also spirited with the laughter, joy, and excitement of someone in the moment of pure happiness.
If you read our reviews on Johnluke, it’s easy to see we’re fans of the lad. With the promise of an upcoming EP, I am eager to hear more. In the meantime, however, I’m happy to keep ‘Could Be Dancin’ on rotation – what a way to begin the weekend.
