Judy Malka – Reflection (2022)

After being chosen as one of the first Israeli children to perform in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, Judy Malka has experienced success after success. A singer-songwriter, actor and dancer, Malka has dedicated her life to creating art with casting in high-profile productions like The Punisher, Orange Is The New Black and, most recently, La Boheme. After releasing several covers including ‘Hallelujah’, ‘To Sir With Love’ and ‘House Of The Rising Sun’, Malka is sharing an original piece with listeners across the globe. Come with us as we look at or rather listen to her single ‘Reflection’.

Following her cover of the iconic ballad, ‘I Don’t Know How To Love Him’ from Jesus Christ Superstar, Judy Malka releases ‘Reflection’. A charming pop ballad, ‘Reflection’ is a contemporary pop song along the lines of Norah Jones and Katie Melua; however, a sense of classical vintage jazz slithers along the heartfelt arrangement and tones. Melodic and harmonic, the acoustic single uses a minimalist approach to send souls soaring while retaining a profoundness in the poetic lyricism.

As with the vintage rock opera track ‘I Don’t Know How To Love Him’, Malka touches a similar sentiment of being lost in relationships; however, ‘Reflection’ is a little more hard-hitting than the wistful musings of Mary Magdalene. Working with music producer Mike Abiuso from Behind The Curtains Media, ‘Reflection’ is a, well, reflective song about the healing powers of music and how we all feel lost sometimes but can turn to music as a guiding light.

“We all get crushed. Lost in so much darkness, but then we find that there is a place of hope, light, and reflection. I have had to reflect on losing so many people dear to me in my life recently. I needed time in isolation so I could think and really dive into the thoughts that were going on in my head. We are able to reflect and find peace, and its faith and hope that can pull you up and out of it.” – Judy Malka on ‘Reflections’

Sincere, sentimental, honest and introspective, Judy Malka astounds us with her obscure vocals and harmonic melody in ‘Reflection’.
