Marcello Cordova Ft. Evie Lizarraga – You Got This (2026)
Marcello Cordova returns with ‘You Got This’, which is a creative shift from the usual Christian contemporary music he’s known for. Joined by vocalist Evie Lizarraga, he has crafted a motivational song that acts as a powerful soundtrack to anyone battling adversity.
The track begins with lovely scratchy acoustic guitars paired with bold electronic keys. Lizarraga contributes the first verse with a pure vocal that contains vivid lyrics about feeling lost: “Is freedom even out there somewhere on the sky’s horizon”. She was very excited to be working on the track, adding, “I first got involved with ‘You Got This’ after Marcello reached out to me about being featured. I immediately loved the concept, empowering and encouraging listeners. My favourite part is the bridge, where the lyrics “don’t give up, don’t lose hope, you’re so close” start soft and gradually build into the final chorus. It’s a reminder that each step matters. Don’t give up, you got this!“
The simple yet empowering message in the chorus is what is key to the track; this is the point where the harder electric guitars come in. Blake Dahlmeyer’s dynamic and masterful playing helps give the track a great edge. There is a lush accompaniment of drums provided by Trevon Stewart, which keeps the track moving to a good tempo.
Cordova, who is a California native, co-wrote the track and, as well as having a passion for religious music, possesses a voice built for radio-friendly rock. He lists artists such as Bryan Adams, Nirvana and Linkin Park as his inspirations. His delivery in the second verse encourages that everything’s going to be okay: “Just remember there’s a fire burnin / And you got to keep fighting”.
Cordova and Lizarraga’s voices mesh together, working wonderfully well and give this track its beauty. The powerful guitars, which get louder as the track progresses, make it an even more inspiring listen. This is an anthem for anyone seeking encouragement in their daily life.
