Rene Sagnelli – The Machine (2022)

If you are in the mood for inspiring lyrics, awesome metal compositions and blistering guitars, Rene Sagnelli has just what you need. His single ‘The Machine’ brings all of this and more to our ears as he unleashes his musical skills. A gifted artist, he merges hard rock, progressive rock and melodic metal to create songs that you want to blast and rock out to.

Since graduating from the Musicians Institute in California, he toured internationally with the most recognised Tribute to Metallica, Masters of Puppets. After touring with them, Sagnelli has performed at The Honda Center, at a festival for world peace where Herbie Hancock, the jazz legend, played only 10 minutes before him. Moving from strength to strength, he is unleashing his masterful guitar skills and melodic vocals on the world.

‘The Machine’ has a dark feeling to the opening line. The guitar pulses with an ominous feeling as an almost gothic chime rings out. There is a delicate touch of industrial to the opening tones that contrasts the melodic metal tones that build through the initial lines. The guitar starts to build before a heart racing jittering pulse fills you with energy. The melody is an amazing combination of melodic elements with the pace of hard rock and the energy of melodic metal twining around the heart-pounding pulses of pure metal. After the initial build of the melody, there is not a moment of pause in the flow as it rises higher and higher. The music brings every element we all love about hard rock and metal together for an enthralling combination that allows the vocals to soar to new heights.

While the melody has your heart pounding in your chest, Sagnelli’s vocals have a marching punch to their flow. His voice has a smoothness that allows it to slide across the top of the guitar lines. While undeniably smooth, there is a gruff rock edge to his performance that sinks its talons into your brain. The lyrics call for us to break the chains that hold us down and embrace the freedom this will bring. After the bridge, his voice rises and shines like the sun breaking through storm clouds. There is a light rally cry in the vocals toward the end of the track that perfectly brings the lyrics to a close, before the music takes over again.

Rene Sagnelli brings the best elements of hard rock and metal together for the captivating and utterly addictive tones of ‘The Machine’. There is no moment in this track that allows your mind to wander, as the music and vocals keep you hooked from start to finish. The single is an amazing showcase of Sagnelli’s guitar skills and infectious vocal performance.
