Sig And The Fire Pilots – LITTLE BLACK DRESS (2026)

Sauntering through fields of pop, rock, blues and some other musical genres, UK-based trio Sig And The Fire Pilots bring audiences their own blend of “rocky, poppy, bluesy reggae…”. Since their formation in 2023 – which we first explored with their single ‘ALMOST OUT OF TIME’ – Sig (vocals and guitar), Dave (bass and vocals), and Duggie (drums and vocals) have turned heads, captured breaths, and won hearts with their powerful tunes and confident presence. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’.

Following their single ‘ALL I WANT’, ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’ is a smash back to 1970s classic rock, complete with crashing drums, a scorching guitar, and bold bass beating along the track. Four minutes (well, just about) of groove-driven, pulsating, rich rock racousness, ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’ is one of those songs that demands air guitar, jumping about, and screaming into your hairbrush with the enthusiasm of Steven Tyler. However, it glimmers with elegance, charm, and soulful sophistication, weaving brashness with high-brow refinement.

One element I really enjoy about Sig And The Fire Pilots, and particularly evident in ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’, is how the music captures emotion, concept, and overall feeling. Honouring the 100th anniversary of Coco Chanel’s iconic little black dress, Sig And The Fire Pilots veils the abrupt forcefulness with a poise and finesse, breathing life into core grit and shimmering polish. Knowing this banger of a tune is a tribute to the LBD makes me immediately imagine Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast At Tiffany’s lifting her sunglasses, taking a puff of her cigarette holder, and giving a cheeky wink, then walking away with swagger in her beautiful black dress.

I won’t say Sig And The Fire Pilots have created a song as memorable or iconic as Chanel’s LBD, but it has the off-the-cuff charm and, well, cheekiness to make this anniversary an enjoyable one.
