StarAV – Halo (2023)

Described as “…crafting alternative songs with a shoegazy vibe” (York Calling), a “…unique experience…” (Unrecorded MU), “a stunning example of dreamy, ethereal music that transports you to another realm” (Couch Mag), and “absolutely fabulous [and]…well on its way to creating an innovative sound…” (Headbangers News), StarAV is turning heads far beyond his Australian borders. Formed in 2020 at the age of 20, this ambient pop artist began creating an inimitable sound. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Halo’.

Inspired by various types of music and human experiences in their entirety, StarAV’s music is profound, emotive, and captures the essence of humanity in a sonic bubble. Following his well-received song ‘Loneliness’, he again touches on the sense of loss in ‘Halo’. Interestingly enough, while ‘Halo’ has a melancholy quality, StarAV shows depth by presenting an empowering sentiment that we are not to blame for any unfair circumstances in which we find ourselves.

“’Halo’ is an ambient pop song handling the grief of losing one’s innocent self. It builds to a moment of catharsis with the realisation that one is not to blame for the unfairness against them.” – StarAV on ‘Halo’

Blasting into 2023 with a soothing calmness, ‘Halo’ is his first single of the year. Collaborating with singer-songwriter Preston Woolsey and multi-instrumentalist Raymond Yan, the track holds to StarAV’s signature dream-pop meets alternative rock with synth-driven haziness; however, Yan’s orchestral sound breaks through building a harmonic and mellifluous soundscape with a hint of haunting. Add StarAV’s rich vocals (plus outro vocals and piano by Woolsey) and you have a spine-chilling but simultaneously heart-warming piece of music.

Sincere, sentimental and something to set your soul soaring, StarAV releases his elegant single ‘Halo’.
