The Great Leslie – All Good Things (2022)

Described by the press as “…a powerhouse to reckon with” (Spill Magazine), “…exuding so much energy and passion” (Janice Long from ‘Top of the Pops’) and “…more than just another indie-rock band” (The Music Files), UK-based The Great Leslie has a reputation for engaging, enthusiastic and hard-hitting music. Along with praises from blogs and magazines, The Great Leslie receives support from radio stations like Kerrang! Radio, BBC Wales, Radio X, XS Manchester, Planet Rock, Amazing Radio, and many more. Moreover, they have gigged across the UK playing sold-out headline shows in London and supporting Franz Ferdinand in Manchester. Needless to say, the foursome is building a loyal following across the globe.

Formed a couple of years ago (give or take), The Great Leslie is a combination of naturally talented musicians Ollie Trevers (vocals and rhythm guitar), Freddie Miles (lead guitar), Alfie Pawsey (bass) and Ryan Lavinder (drums). In their latest song ‘All Good Things’, the lads showcase their musicality in a sophisticated, soul-soaring and superb way. Lying somewhere between indie-rock and pop-rock with some alternative rock sprinkled atop the high-paced melody, ‘All Good Things’ is toe-tapping in its hard-hitting nature.

What I find intriguing about The Great Leslie is not their harmonic arrangements with Trevers’ rich vocals wrapping you in a warm hug as the instrumentation hits you between the eyes; it is the profoundness of the lyrical content. While an upbeat, toe-tapping and smile-inducing tune, ‘All Good Things’ has a melancholic theme – nothing lasts forever. Trevers explains that the single “defines life as a state of constant change making life and change synonymous with each other, solidifying life’s finality. It is a helping hand to those who are bereft of their past happiness, attempting to help them accept that all good things come to an end by saying that nothing is constant…good and bad.”

Sincere, sentimental and enchanting, The Great Leslie brings profoundness to listeners in their upbeat albeit poignant single ‘All Good Things’.
