The Missing Diamonds – Do I Want Love? (2026)
Since first emerging in the summer of 2025, UK-based The Missing Diamonds have seen a rapid rise in the independent music world and earned a loyal following with their unapologetic, raw, authentic melodies. Releasing hit after hit, from the debut ‘Little Wonder’ and 2025’s ‘Call On Me’ to more recent ‘When You Fall’ and ‘Do I Want Love?’, the lads offer a reminder of what rock and roll always was and what it is meant to be. With explosive live performances, moving tunes, and a growing reputation via word of mouth, the foursome win hearts and turn heads far beyond their UK borders. Join us as we delve into their new single, ‘Do I Want Love?’
With ‘Do I Want Love?’, The Missing Diamonds truly ask that seemingly simple but simultaneously intricate question: do I want love? It’s not a case of yes or no, and doesn’t lean toward any particular type of relationship. In this track, the song doesn’t offer any easy answers, but turns inward with a microscope, unpacking the complexities of the basic question. Blending their distinctive rock and roll sound with issues of “vulnerability, the struggle between pushing people away and yearning for genuine connection… the track explores the uncertainty of opening yourself up to love while carrying the weight of self-doubt, past mistakes and inner conflict.”
Thematically and lyrically, ‘Do I Want Love?’ has a darkness, depth and poignant aura that speaks to and resonates with people. The thing is, as much as it asks those difficult questions, the song offers solace, odd comfort, and an empowering understanding that we aren’t alone in this situation.
Melodically, Dan Gallagher shows his skills with elegant and sophisticated production. Conor Smith’s heavy drums crash in the background, bringing an old-school rock flair to the track, while his bold bass adds an anchoring attitude to ‘Do I Want Love?’ Andy Crowe and Dave Middlemiss’ guitars swerve, slice and soar across the track, making it forceful and confident. For me, the fragility of ‘Do I Want Love?’ exists in the vocal execution. Middlemiss’ rich voice carries along the song with mature clarity, while Kyle Munsie, Smith and Crowe’s backing vocals bring a harmonic hum.
Sincere, sentimental and insightful, I highly recommend The Missing Diamonds and their single, ‘Do I Want Love?’
