Track of the Day: Ruby Hive – The Bird Song

Formed as a reaction to melancholy in the music industry, Ruby Hive is a quirky five-piece indie-pop band. Located in London, the group writes tunes about conversational but controversial issues, such as living in a metaphorical cage. The aim of this band is to stop people “acting like adults and instead release their inner child”. While Ruby Hive appreciates the sadness of their songs, the underlying message is to remain creative and paint outside the lines. The latest track from Ruby Hive is their single ‘The Bird Song’.

“We originally wrote ‘The Bird Song’ to introduce our political beliefs touching upon animal captivity and the lack for other people’s situation, generally. As the pandemic flipped the world upside down, we felt that ‘The Bird Song’ would fit perfectly in these uncertain times with people stuck at home like birds in cages. Even though you could say the entry points are still related.” – Ruby Hive on ‘The Bird Song’
