Al Perez – Frequency (2026)

Al Perez is a well-respected musician who has been honing his craft for three decades. His many influences include Prince, Bill Withers and Boz Scaggs. He has opened for legendary British band Nine Below Zero, as well as making visits to the UK to promote his music. In the past few months, Perez has released two very personal tracks. ‘Steps’ is about his own battle with sobriety and ‘Brother’ is about his relationship with his sibling Roy, who is also a musician. This blues artist is now back with another slice of Americana with ‘Frequency’.

The track bursts into life in the form of a blues love song with its lovely keys during the verses and the lush bassline which backs the song. Perez delivers a wonderful vocal and makes clever mentions of romantic figures such as Romeo and Juliet, Johnny (Cash) & June (Carter) and Bonnie & Clyde. ‘Frequency’ captures the joy of harmoniously being in sync with someone, like two hearts resonating as one. Perez showcases playful lyrics throughout: “Well alright / Baby tonight / I’ll be your fire babe /You be the dynamite“.

”Frequency’ is a dynamic and uptempo track that plays to Al’s strengths of storytelling and high-end musicianship. It is a celebration of finding love and a connection regardless of age. Finding that unparalleled joy with that one person who gets you. An exuberant blues-rock track, it succeeds in putting you in a good mood. Perez has no problem flipping between R&B, rock, and Hawaiian styles, all of which make him a great all-round artist.
