Andrea Pizzo and the Purple Mice – Come Out Lazarus 2 – Ineffability (2026)
Known for their conceptual music locked in an enigmatic sound, Andrea Pizzo and the Purple Mice don’t merely connect with listeners of a particular genre; they reach audiences through their deep exploration of science, technology and the boundaries of existential experience. Built as a collective, with various musicians serving as the “Purple Mice” on different songs, the Genova-based band creates an immersive experience that envelops listeners in a bubble of music. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Come Out Lazarus 2 – Ineffability’.
The second chapter in their conceptual project People Zero, ‘Come Out Lazarus 2 – Ineffability’ follows the first instalment of the Come Out Lazarus cycle, ‘Come Out Lazarus 1 – Life Is Over’. Penned by Raffaella Turbino, ‘Ineffability’ continues the tale of a heart transplant patient that began in ‘Life Is Over’. While the first single set the stage with a story of a “fatal accident and an organ donation from the outside”, the sequel shifts to the patient’s subconscious experiences. The band explain:
“The track follows a heart transplant recipient through the moment consciousness dissolves – pain vanishes, time collapses, and identity expands into something boundless. The lyrics, written by Raffaella Turbino, move through recognisable stages of near-death experience – the out-of-body vision, the tunnel of light, the overwhelming sense of love – but resist clinical detachment. This is testimony, not theory.”
Lyrically, ‘Ineffability’ is weighty within its abstract theme, but the melody is as intriguing. Produced by Robert Tiranti, who also plays all of the instruments, the track is psychedelic and electronic – a wave of synths and bold beats washing over you in a twinkling flush of downtempo sound. Interestingly, as the melody has an ethereal quality, the vocals are not necessarily ethereal, but rather steady and profound – kind of like a bold voice speaking in the distant light at the end of that proverbial tunnel.
In addition to the single, Andrea Pizzo released an official music video for ‘Come Out Lazarus 2 – Ineffability’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
