Caleb Caming – You’ve Got Me (In Agony) (2021)

With a background performing blues, rock and country music around New York City (that’s in the USA to be specific), US-based singer-songwriter Caleb Caming hit the stage with a more aggressive, modern sound. Along with bassist Devlin McDermott and drummer Bryan Framhein, Caming formed the trio Caleb Caming & The Heat – a group that has been named as one of the top 50 indie-rock bands in the New Year area. All this began approximately three years ago in 2019, and in 2022 the lads are still going strong. One of the more recent additions to their critically acclaimed repertoire is ‘You’ve Got Me (In Agony)’.

Described as a band that stands out by RGM, Rising Artists Blog and Pop Fad Blog, Caleb Caming & The Heat is quickly building a following across the globe. After releasing their Live and Fully Alive! At Rockwood Music Hall in 2021, Caming and his crew show their prowess in the studio with ‘You’ve Got Me (In Agony)’. Combining pounding drums and powerful guitars in a well-layered arrangement, the lads hit you in the face with their dynamic sound. Yet, while there is a modern edge to their alternative rock melodies, Caming appears to add a 70s post-punk vibe to 90s grunge fusing the sounds of different eras.

It’s true that the melody effortlessly carries you along a tumultuous river of sound, but it is Caming’s bold vocals that round things off nicely. Rich and warm with slight obscurity, his dulcet tones enhance the song’s poignancy in an intimate way. A simplicity exists in this execution but so does a sophisticated intricacy. It is this polished means of creating a new sound that makes Caleb Caming unforgettable. In short, I like the band and ‘You’ve Got Me (In Agony)’ and am eager to hear more.
